Wiring is a project initiated by Hernando Barragán, and facilitates physical computing using Processing. The Wiring kit consists of an interface board and a Processing library to control it. 500 controller boards have been produced in the first production run, featuring a microcontroller, 8 analog input and 6 analog outputs. The boards connect via a standard USB cable.

All in all it sounds like a perfect plug-and-play setup for physical computing. Hernando has started shipping the boards, you can order them from the Wiring web site. The site says that the software is in a pre-release state, but since it builds on Processing it will presumably eventually be Open Source.

Other Processing-related news: According to the Processing site, there will soon be a mobile.processing.org site, dedicated to “Processing Mobile, a programming environment and library for writing software for mobile phones.” And Robert Hodgkin has started a Flight404 blog.
