Ars Electronica: CODE
Whether you’re a fan of the Ars Electronica Festival or not, it remains one of the most important annual events in the electronic art scene. It’s a kind of Venice Biennale for the media art circuit, if only the Venice Biennale was much smaller, less Prada-infested and happened every year in the same little town buried in the foothills of the Austrian Alps. So maybe it’s really not like the Venice Biennale at all.
The 2003 edition of the Ars Electronica focused on the subject of CODE, showcasing a number of artists working within the generative tradition. The CODE catalogue contains a wealth of information on subjects related to code and art, and as luck would have it the Ars Electronica has seen fit to release it online in its entirety. You can even download PDFs.
