Robert Moog, inventor of the modular Moog synthesizer, has died of brain cancer at age 71. His synths were the touchstone of early efforts in sound synthesis, and are still the inspiration for many softsynths. Check out Wendy Carlos’ classic Switched-On Bach for a true Moog experience. You can also find some sounds tagged moog over at the Freesound sample library.
