David Lu: PencilBrush

David Lu (aka forkinsocket) has posted a new sketch done in Processing called PencilBrush.

PencilBrush (2005) is a software-based drawing instrument. Imagined as a brush whose hairs leave delicate, pencil-like marks on screen, it grows additional hairs to render quick, broad strokes, and abandons hairs for smaller, slower strokes.

It doesn’t have an applet on the web site, but you can download the code and run it in Processing. It has a nice organic quality to the line (particularly if you mess around with the “divisor_per_sec = 31/4;” statement). Be sure to look at David Lu’s other work- while you’re there.
