HC Gilje: CityScapes DVD

HC Gilje, who lectured about his instrumental work with live visual performance at the Generator.x conference, has just released a new DVD. The CityScapes DVD is published on the French Lowave label, and features 5 films in Gilje’s signature dreamy style.

Gilje’s release email says the following:

I am happy to announce the release of my DVD “Cityscapes” on paris-label lowave. The DVD contains 4 videos with urban related themes, an interview about the works, and a short essay in the cover, all packaged in a nice super-jewel case.

The videos have been made over a period of 6 years, starting in Hong Kong in 1998. This is why we chose to do the release event in this city on november 4th at Habitus, a small artist space overlooking the Hong Kong Harbour.

The videos:
hkmark1 5 min, 1998. Video: HC Gilje, Audio: HC Gilje
Crossings 4 min, 2002 Video: HC Gilje, Audio: Jazzkammer
Shiva 8 min, 2003. Video: HC Gilje, Audio: Kelly Davis
Night for Day 30 min, 2004. Video: HC Gilje, Audio: Jazzkammer

The DVD is available through the Lowave website: www.lowave.com as well as www.amazon.de and a number of specialty shops around the world including the ICA bookshop in London, the Pompidou Center in Paris, and the ZKM in Karlsruhe.

Yeah, HC was one of the original 242.pilots. I think they’ve disbanded the group now, but Kurt Ralske has been doing some nice projects with Trond Lossius. Blind, which is HC and Kelly Davis, did a very nice set at the Generator.x concert.

I’ll have to look into those. Kurt is always doing wonderful things, like for instance, his Auvi objects for Nato and Jitter.
