As mentioned here previously, the so-called “Network model” for supporting Norwegian electronic art came under threat recently . Trondheim Electronic Art Center (TEKS) and the network coordinating organisation PNEK (which was one of the supporters of the Generator.x conference) have expired as experimental projects, and would have to be transferred to the State budget or cease operations. The budget proposed a few weeks ago did not give any support, and a petition was started.

Today came the news: In a new amendment to the budget, PNEK and TEKS each will receive 0.5 million NOK (approx. 63 000 EUR). In addition, PNEK will be instituted as an independent organization. Congratulations to Janne Stang Dahl at PNEK and Trine Eidsmo and Espen Gangvik at TEKS!

As an extra bonus, Tou Scene in Stavanger has received the same amount to save them from closing down. Tou has in the past been host to the Numusic festival of electronic music, as well as numerous art exhibitions and performances. Most likely, the Generator.x exhibition will be shown at Tou winter 2006. Congratulations also to Tou!
