Some interesting posts are popping up in response to the Adobe takeover:
- Douglas Edric Stanley writes on Abstractmachine that he’s switching over all his workshops to use Processing rather than Director.
- Whatdoiknow posts about Adobe’s announced intention to integrate Flash and Acrobat Reader. Digital Inspiration says the new product is codenamed Adobe Apollo, and is already in the works.
- Jeff Schiller writes about potential issues threatening the SVG format, with a followup on an unofficial clarification from Adobe.
It seems that regardless of previous product loyalties, the developer/designer community is worried about the future of the software platforms and media formats that put food on their table.

About what I read in one of your links I’ve to say that Adobe Apollo seems clearly to me a next version of Macromedia Central, but probably not everyone knows it, or its inspiration Java Start. I think it is obvious that swf and pdf player will merge somehow but didn’t see any news (un)official news from Adobe that it will happen already with Apollo. Cya, chr
Well, actually it seems that Apollo, the successor of Central, will implement PDF. By the way I don’t think it will bring so much value to the app that will face the same problems all the ancestors had before. Of course if Apollo will replace Acrobat Reader the success could be much easier this time.
