This is an experiment to see if posting videos on the blog would be feasible (or even desirable). The video format of choice is Flash Video, since it’s light-weight, most users have the necessary plugins and the plugin doesn’t stop the browser for several seconds while initializing. We’re using the WP-FLV WordPress plugin by Roel Meurders to embed the FLVs. WP-FLV in turn uses Jeroen Wijering’s Flash Video Player.
Please give feedback on how this is working for you. It shouldn’t slow down the normal blog use, since it doesn’t load the video until you ask it to. Without further ado, here is the clip.
Video: Alva Noto (Carsten Nicolai) live at AV.06. (~ 6 MB)

Works like a charm! viddis are all good.
it works fine^^
Works fine, except in my news feed reader… that it crashes. (using NetNewsWire on OS X) Perhaps disable the swf in the xml feed?
Hmm, will research that one…
could you please post a size of video file – it is not so hard, but it best for ones with slow bandwidth.
when i see a size – i can easyly deside to watch it or not. but “no size” scares me a lot, and i just dont try to see what you post.
thanx
That’s a good suggestion. I’ve added the file size now. One of the benefits of Flash Video is that you can easily watch what you’ve downloaded so far, and the plugin is in my experience much more stable than Quicktime.
http://newsgator.mykbpro.com/Article_B3368.aspx has an article on why NetNewsWire crashes. Anyways, I just turned off plugins… bring on the video.
Works perfectly and is much appreciated!
ooohhhhh, yes.
thanks.
lovely video!
linked from vimeo to my blog-wasn’t aware it was up here.
nice, nice ;]
You should try Brightcove for your video publishing (Flash based video content management). I’m using it on invasioncinema.com.
great….
