There’s no ambivalence here – I am not sat on the fence. I love it! And I hate it!

The first comment is right that the animated bits and bobs are distracting if you’re trying to look at the site. But they’re awesome. As you mentioned on infosthetics.com the beeping is gratuitous, but unashamedly so. I agree, and I wish I was so bold. But it’s still beeping

PS Please don’t minimalify Generator.x, heaven forbid it should ever blend in!

That’s an interesting state of ambivalence, Tom! There are obvious drawbacks to Sato’s site design, but if the intention was to impress they’ve surely succeeded. How many tedious paint-by-numbers portfolio sites do we need anyway?

For the record: For those who find Generator.x a little harsh on the eye, it was designed to be that way. It’s better to be bold than to be boring when you’re trying to reach a visually biased audience. But I think this particular design has outlived its usefulness. A redesign is in order, perhaps even something minimal…

The overall design is good, but I didn’t like the _animation_ of the color bars. High-contrast elements moving rapidly make focusing on anything else difficult.
