The ISEA 2006 Symposium and ZeroOne San Jose: A Global Festival of Art on the Edge have announced a new call for participation: Transvergence. Their announcement prose is a little flowery, I especially admire the headline “Technozoosemiotics as an Epistemological Platform & Playground”. Boiled down, they’re looking for works dealing with the following subjects:

  • “…new visions of organizational and participatory models as structures of possibility for transvergent practice”
  • “…proposals querying the role and relevance of art in public arenas that are being redefined by interactive, inclusive ambitions and tools”
  • “…projects engaging with the materials and broader ecology of life sciences, rather than simply their symbolic representation”
  • “…art that extends beyond human-centred design, to questions of living systems and new species of cultural reality”

There seems to be space for some Artificial Life projects in there. Deadline is October 3.
