United Visual Artists: OneDotZero show

London-based visuals group United Visual Artists continues to blaze new ground. In the past they have worked for music industry names like U2, Massive Attack and Pet Shop Boys, as well as a range of high profile commercial clients.

UVA uses custom hardware and software solutions to create unusal visual shows and installations. Their specially commissioned show at OneDotZero9 in June featured a very impressive range of LED-based graphics. Using display technology from Pixel Range, they built a big LED display which they controlled with custom software, effectively mixing text and lo-res graphics.

UVA recently created their first gallery installation in Mirror, an interactive motion study. It uses two cameras to capture a pseudo-3D scan of people in the space, which is then presented as points in 3D space. Users can interact with their own shapes and create fluid spatial traces.
