Internet randomized radio: r4nd
Any self-respecting music subculture has its own radio station, be it pirate or legitimate.
In the networked age, we no-longer need to concern ourselves with the politics of the radio spectrum however. Limited bandwidth, commercial advertisements to cover broadcasting costs, not to mention broadcast range, are now nostalgia to most net-based radio operations. The rand()% project adds a twist to the on-line broadcasting game, streaming real-time generative music.
This is a meaningful application of generative sound – the same track by the same author mutates and re-generates ad infinitum, and with an automated playback server the radio experience becomes fully automated, for ever, ever, and ever.
